Tracy Arm

On the morning of August 12 we entered the unbelievably beautiful Tracy Arm, a glacier carved fjord that culminates at the Sawyer glacier. As the initial photos reveal, it was cold, very cold (in my judgment). However, it was also one of the best parts of our cruise. Throughout our passage into this wonderland we got a rich narration from the ship's naturalist, Kathy Slamp. She had given a number of lectures about various aspects of Alaska but her comments over the ship's PA system made this part of our voyage much more enjoyable. She can be seen in one of the photos sitting on a chair on the starboard wing of the ship's bridge. On our way out of the fjord, Kathy acted as cheer leader as we tried to out yell our incoming sister ship, the Golden Princess, as it passed on our port side. Apparently this is a tradition with the Princess line.
