As with most of our ports-of-call, we spent the bulk of our day in Juneau going on "excursion." This time it was to the local salmon hatchery and then to the famous Mendenhall glacier. The Mendenhall might be regarded as one of Alaska's few "drive-up" glaciers in that it can be reached by touring bus. The salmon hatchery produces "native" salmon which it releases into the wild. The Mendenhall glacier is a federal park that includes a nature center. Since all of that took most of the day, we saw very little of Juneau the town.
