Indian Canyons
November, 2009

Just above Palm Springs is a delightful oasis called Indian Canyons. Basically this is the ancestral home of the Agua Caliente Indians. The canyon with its many native California fan palms and almost year round running water provided a most hospitable location. Now, of course, the Agua Caliente tribe is the owner of two successful casinos and half of the real estate under Palm Springs. However, these canyons above Palm Springs are probably some of the most beautiful places in all of the Coachella Valley, and they can be easily accessed in the family car. If you are into hiking, the three canyons that make up the reserve have numerous exciting trails. Admission to the reserve is $8 or $6 for seniors (62 or over). As with so many of our adventures, this one was shared with Greg and Susan Yim.
