Chef Robert Christopher

Our son Robert has gone through many careers and is now starting out on another one as a chef. At the moment he is attending the Art Institute's culinary school in San Bernardino. We see him every other week or so when he comes by for a quick visit. On most of those occasions, we get to sample whatever he has been working on at school. This is by far the very best homework a son could ever have. We will be posting photos of his creations as he sends them to us. In his first quarter at school he learned the basics of knife work and sauces. In the following quarters he will explore a variety of cuisines. Instead of focusing exclusively on French cuisine his school has a very broad coverage of the world's most popular cuisines. As of this update, he is well into his third quarter. The complete program consists of seven quarters and includes a number of courses related to general college work (math, English, etc.) as well as specialized courses related to the management of food service facilities.

Most recently as part of a restaurant management class, Robert designed a complete menu, a PDF copy of which can be viewed by clicking here

These are some of the first photos he took of the dishes prepared by his "table." Students are organized into teams that work together to prepare a variety of dishes.
