This is relatively new facility in San Francisco's Golden Gate park that replaced the old Steinhart Museum. I had seen a documentary regarding the construction of the building so I was eager to see the finished product. Unfortunately, the photos I took don't do a decent job of documenting the unique features of the building--you'll just have to go see it to understand why it is so different. We spent most of our time wandering through the aquarium area and the rainforest dome, both of which require the use of a towel to keep perspiration under control. However, when you are done and go up to the "living roof," you'll probably need a jacket as it features the usual San Francisco chilling wind. Sorry about the fuzzy photos of fish. I couldn't use flash because it wouldn't work and is prohibited; however, if the fish had just stayed still they would have been in focus. And yes, that's an albino alligator.
