March 2009 Joshua Tree Jeep Tour
After taking two Jeep trips to the San Andreas fault, we followed the advice of Red Jeep guide "Morgan" and signed up for their Joshua Tree tour. Our previous Red Jeep tours went into to some rugged territory, but the journey to Joshua Tree puts "rugged" on steroids. On this tour you go over the Little San Bernardino mountains via the "Berdoo" pass. This is a route that was originally developed by the company that built the big pipe carrying water from the Colorado River; however, over the years the road has almost totally eroded away. What's left is some very exciting four-wheeling opportunities. Once we got over the pass we descended into the Joshua Tree park to check out the wonderful rock formations. It was a great tour--if you take it, ask for Morgan. BTW, the below photos were all shot in the 16/9 format of HDTV.
