August 2009 Alaska Cruise

As a perfect end to our summer escape from the desert heat we took a seven-day Alaska cruise out of Seattle. Since I won't fly anymore we had to take a round-trip cruise and that limited the northern reach of the cruise. The most northern port for the cruise was Skagway. On the way there, we stopped at Ketchikan and Juneau. On the morning we cruised to Juneau the ship took a very long detour into Tracey Arm to see the magnificent Sawyer glacier. On the way home from Skagway we stopped briefly in Victoria. As you can see in the photos, our companions for the cruise were Carolyn's sister Susan Yim and her husband Greg. Susan did all the work of setting up the excursions, after we debated for weeks which ones to take.
