2004 Washington D.C.

In October of 2004 we were invited by our good friends the Hands to play several rounds of golf in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We decided to enrich the trip by building in some extra days to enjoy the many pleasures of the Mall in Washington D.C. For us, those pleasures mainly have to do with the museums rather than the monuments or the White House. Washington D.C. and its environs has one of the most fabulous collections of museums of any capital city in the world. It is most unfortunate that all these good things are located on our east coast where they are largely inaccessible to most Americans of modest means. We took a great many photos--too many to put them all on one webpage. To accomodate more photos, we have segregated them according to the below noted areas. You will note that some of them are a little fuzzy and that's because all of them were taken with whatever light was available. Flash doesn't work in big museums and is prohibited in most of them.

Please note that these are but a small sample of the museums in Washington D.C. If you Google the area you'll see that it would probably take about two weeks to see all the museums.
